- i-Tree Landscape has 5 stages represented by the blue progress bar below the map.
- Move between stages: click Next or Back buttons or click a step under the Progress Bar.
- The control panel on the right lists map layers and map tools.

Use the Search box or simply zoom/pan to your desired map area. Turn boundary layers on/off to refine your project extents. Choose a boundary area to analyze from that drop-down list and switch between the Navigate and the Select / Box Select map tools to select individual boundary areas to Process.
Pertinent information about your boundary area selection(s) are displayed below the map in data tables and graphs. This information comes from a wide variety of sources: References.
i-Tree® benefit estimates are calculated from tree canopy cover for selected boundary areas and displayed in data tables and graphs below the map in amounts (pounds, gallons, etc.) and US dollar values. These include the ecosystem services provided by trees such as carbon sequestration, pollution removal, and hydrology impacts. References.
Target tree planting and protection to promote sustainable tree benefits in areas most valuable to people using the common Scenarios based on Population, Minorities, or Poverty for quick results. Create Custom scenarios by following the instructions on the page. Priority areas are displayed on the map, table, and quadrant scatter plot.
Use templates or customize elements from the Location Information, Tree Benefits, or Planting Prioritization stages. Within each section, configure Report Elements as directed and include each with the + Add button. Your elements will be listed below the configuration section. When ready, use the Build Report button to view the finished report. Print the report via your web browser or publicly Publish it on our server; go Back to modify report elements.
- You can combine selections from different boundary layers (ex: mix and match selecting counties with watersheds).
- Make changes to your boundary area selections at any stage - just use the Process button to update the map and tables.
- You can even open different stages in separate web-browser windows or tabs!
- While exploring the tool, start with just a few boundary area selections for the best performance.
- Large quantities of boundary area selections may take several minutes to process. Processing that exceeds 30 minutes will halt due to server resource limits.
- Maximum number of selections: a handful of states, a few hundred counties, or less than a thousand block groups. These are subject to change.
- Your computer and internet connection may only be able to handle a smaller number than these maximums.
- If you receive a Timeout error, please try Reloading the page once or twice. As some calculations are cached; it may be possible to finish the remainder. If the problem persists, visit the homepage and use the Project menu > Start Over button and then split your analysis area into smaller sub-projects.
- Metered Connection Warning: i-Tree Landscape is data intensive and not recommended for data plans that charge based on consumption.
